As of right now I'm planning on doing research on Jason Nelson or Rip Kungler, I'm undecided on which one I should do research on. I don't know anything about either of them except they both experiment with digital writing, but after doing some brief research I've been to their websites and they both have very interesting forms of experimental/animated writing.
For this project the type of research I plan on doing involves learning as much as I can about the writer/artist's background, what inspired them to become experimental writers, and do a critical analysis of several of their pieces of work.
I may periodically check in with Anne to make sure that I'm doing the project correctly and to listen to any suggestions she may have that may improve my project.
The first draft of the independent research project is due on 11/11/10 which is about a month away. Hopefully by then I should have the project at least 80-90% done. For the first week I plan on gathering information about the writer. Most of the information about the writer can be found on their website so that is probably where I will start my research. The second week I organize the information in a way I think will explain my point of view best. The third week I write the rough draft, and keep revising it until the first draft is due.
I think Jason Nelson might be a more intriguing and challenging writer for you in terms of our class purposes, Jarreau, but either of the two will provide you a fine place to start your research project. In either case, I am interested to see how thinking about these other writers might have effects on what you compose for our class...!
